Searching from a Hot List

One of the unique features within Hot Lists is the ability to launch the Candidate Search and narrow down your list by specific vacancy requirements.

Summary Overview

Searching from a Hot List can give you instant access to the right Candidates instantly. Narrow down your carefully created list by a Keyword or Location in seconds to ensure you are contacting the best matched people. This saves time by going to external sites or even running a new search within Mercury if you already have a well structured list of contacts.

For candidate lists, it will commonly be narrowing down your list by a requirment for a vacancy you are working. For hiring managers, you may be looking for the right people to spec out a brilliant candidate to.

Hot Lists > select a Hot List > Mercury ribbon > Search. This will launch the search with your hot list added as a filter.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. From within the Hot List, click the Search button:

  2. You can see the Hot List has been added to a filter:

  3. Using candidates as an example, the current list contains 100 candidates who are ‘Agile Project Managers’, or project managers with agile. I am working a role where they must have experience in scrum methodologies. I add scrum as a  Keyword within the search tab of Structured search. This narrows my list down to 40 people:

  4.  I could narrow the list down further by adding additional skills, requirements or qualifications within Keywords or by adding a Location filter:

NOTE: The above is searching by Free Text which is an exact match. Location (Distance) can be used if searching a radius search of a city or postcode.

    5. These are the people I want to focus on. I can then use View Results to see more information about the candidate and consider calling. Alternatively, I can ensure to exclude people who are currently placed (a filter can be added for Candidate Status), and then select all and email them about the vacancy.

    6. Remove the Hot List filter and run a search based on the vacancy criteria to see if any well matched candidates come up. Aftering calling and qualifying them, you could always add them to your Hot List from the Search!
