Why deactivate records?

  • Vacancies and Placements are the two records that need to maintained by Consultants the most.

  • By deactivating Vacancies, Consultants can view only Vacancies that are currently live, keep data clean in the system, and report on the reasons why (active) Vacancies are not being filled.

  • With (non successful) Placements, there may be a non-starter.; this will be recorded against the Candidate. There may also be contractors or Clients who are frequently terminating contracts early.

NOTE:
When a record is deactivated, it can no longer be found when using the search option at the top toolbar. This search only shows active records.
If a Contact is deactivated, they will not be searchable in the internal search function. The best way to find deactivated records is to search via the menus.

How

All records can be deactivated or activated in Mercury. The icon is on the top tool bar of each record:

When deactivating a record, some records provide a list of reasons. If this is the case, a reason will need to be selected from the list provided. The options will vary, depending on the record type:

When a record has been deactivated, it will become read only. This means that no actions can be run from the record and it can no longer be edited.

As soon as this action is run, the Deactivate icon is replaced with the Activate icon. If a record is deactivated in error or needs to become active again, click here:
