Phone Calls can then be seen directly within the Timeline.
Glossary of terms
As a...: When logging a call with a contact who is both a client contact and a candidate, it is important to log in which capacity you are speaking to them.
Purpose: This list are your call types. The list is a dropdown of field options that would have been provided by your business when you first purchased Mercury. These are important for being able to build reports on certain call types.
Subject: This will autofill with the call type select from the purpose field. If desired, this can be amended to give a more specific subject title.
Left Voice Mail: It is clear what this field is for. However a good system tip is to be aware that if this is toggled to Yes, the phone call will not be included as Last Contacted.
Description: This is where notes will be added about what was discussed on the phone call.
Regarding: This will automatically link to the contact but can be changed to link to any other record within the system. Commonly, it is used to link to a vacancy.
Direction: This is recording who made the call. It will default to Outgoing but can be changed to Incoming.
Mark As Completed: This field is important to understand. It is asking if you have fully completed logging your call notes. If all notes have been completed, leave this as Yes. Once the call is logged and showing on the timelines, it can be read or accessed from the timeline but it can no longer be edited. It will be considered a completed/closed activity.
If you begin to log your notes and another call comes through and you want to finish the notes later, toggle to No. It will be considered an open task, with a title of Active on the timeline. It will be in your list of activities and will need to be completed later.
Follow Up: If you wish to schedule a date for another call with this candidate, you can enter a date here to create a scheduled activity. This will not appear in Outlook but will be displayed in the Recruitment Consultant dashboard with the 'My Calls To Complete' tile. It will also be displayed with all of your open activities (open meaning they have not been completed within Mercury).
TIP: You can also click on the phone icon at the end of a telephone number field to launch the Quick Create: Log Phone call.
