What

We have new functionality which enhances the user experience of our already brilliant email function, named the Email Editor. The Email Editor can be launched from many places, e.g., individual contact record, a Contact list, from Mercury Search, within a Hotlist, etc.

Keys areas of improvement (click to jump to specific part of this article):

Where

Example: From a Contact record

Home > Contacts Contact Record > Top Ribbon > Activities button > Email to/about candidate

Example: From the Contacts list

Home > Contacts > Select Contact > Top Ribbon > Email button

How

Emails do not send to deactivated recipients

Within the Email Editor, recruiters can no longer search or select inactive Client Contacts, Candidates and Users within ToCc and Bcc. This will prevent any accidental contact to a person who shouldn’t be contacted.
If launching the Email Editor from a Contact record and the Contact is inactive, the To field will not populate.

E.g. the Contact has an email address, but has been marked as Inactive:

When opening the Email Editor from this record, due to the contact being inactive, the email address will no longer populate any of the correspondence fields:

Configurable salutation prefix

Within the Email Editor, the prefix to address the contact within the email is set to Hi. This is a free-text field where a different Salutation prefix can be typed in.

Range of fonts and sizes available to match company requirements

Select from a range of 17 fonts and 7 font sizes (8pt - 36pt). Changing the font within the email body will not change any template formatting (e.g. salutation or signatures).

NOTE: As companies have brand guidelines, it’s everyone’s responsibility to follow and adhere to those guidelines. We’ve added a new feature within Mercury to restrict users from changing the font family and font size within the Email Editor. Please liaise with your CSM to remove these tabs.

Additionally, click Format for additional styling options:

Troubleshooting spacing issues

To remove any unwanted spaces, open your email template, highlight the space, then press the Shift + Delete keys on your keyboard.

To prevent any odd line spacing in the email, instead of pressing Enter when creating a new line in the email, press Shift + Enter.

If you want a blank line, press Shift + Enter twice - this will result in line spacing that looks normal.
