What

This article describes how to increase the file size limit for outgoing Email attachments.

NOTE: The instructions in this article can only be carried out by your organisation's System Administrator.

Where

Home > Settings > Advanced Settings > Settings > System > Administration > System Settings > Email tab > Set file size limit for email attachments

How

Users can sometimes experience an error message if an attachment in their outgoing email is too big:

System Administrators are therefore able to amend the recommended file size.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If the file size limit is changed to an overly large amount, then the outgoing emails may process very slowly, or get blocked, or even not send at all, and could also impact your environment's storage capacity. Mercury therefore advises that the limit for email attachments should be around 5,120KBs, which is 5.12MBs. Larger than normal files can also cause unnecessary system jobs and slow down the performance of Mercury. Whenever possible, it is always best to use a file sharing/collaboration tool - such as OneDrive - between users, to maximise productivity and at the same time avoid unnecessary overloading of the system.

1. In Mercury, navigate to Advanced Settings in the top right:

2. Click the arrow next to Settings and then click into Administration

3. Then click into System Settings:

4. A smaller window will appear. Click the Email tab:

5. Scroll down and find the setting called Set file size limit for attachments as in the screenshot below. Amend the file size limit as required then click OK
