What

Searching for Candidates via Location is now even easier within the new Mercury Search! By using the Location function, users can cast a wider net where the Search can return valid Candidates.

Where

For this example we will access Search from the Contacts area:

Home > Contacts > Search > Mercury Search > click within the Location (Free Text) dropdown to initiate the Search.

How

1. Select the Filters option.

2. Select the drop-down Location (Free Text) and input a location - this can be a Town, City, State, County or Country.

3. If more than one location is added, the Search will run as an OR function, which provides results that contain any search term - e.g. return Candidates that have their location as Sydney OR London.

Using Boost in a Location-based search

This feature changes how high up a filter term appears in the results. The higher the Boost value is, the more Search will increase the priority of finding that specific term when searching for Candidates. For example, if three locations are used in a search, the Boost value of one can be increased to prioritise Candidates from that location.

1. Enter all locations required in the search:

2. Increase the Boost value of each location by dragging the slider along the scale, or entering a number between 1 and 10 in the text box. The higher the number, the higher up Candidates with a higher Match Rating relating to that area will be displayed in the results:

3. For example, see the difference in the top three results when all locations have a default Boost of 5, compared to when London is given a Boost of 10:

Boost score of 5 for ALL locations

Boost Score of 10 for London only
